Consulting for libraries and education

Fosgail consulting supports leaders in libraries, theological schools, and higher education who are navigating change, limited capacity, or new initiatives that feel bigger than the team can handle alone. Together, we clarify what matters most, design realistic paths forward, and help you move from feeling stuck or overwhelmed to seeing concrete next steps.

What Fosgail consulting helps with

Every consulting engagement is tailored, but many projects focus on themes like these:

  • Preparing for accreditation or reaccreditation, including targeted or comprehensive external reviews.
  • Integrated planning for collections, services, and staffing so your library or program can adapt to changing needs.
  • Designing and facilitating retreats or workshops for boards, leadership teams, or staff.
  • Planning and communicating change around new technologies, spaces, or service models.

If you are facing a complex question about the future of your library or learning organization, consulting gives you a thought partner who understands your context and helps you chart a path forward.

How we work together

Consulting with Fosgail is a collaborative process grounded in listening, reflection, and practical action.

  1. Start with a free Discovery Meeting We begin with a no‑obligation online conversation to learn about your context, goals, timeline, and constraints and to explore whether Fosgail is the right fit.
  2. Receive a tailored proposal Based on that conversation, you receive a proposed scope of work outlining focus areas, approach, timeline, and estimated fees, aligned with your priorities and budget.
  3. Partner through the project During the engagement, we stay in close communication, sharing emerging insights, checking assumptions, and adjusting as needed so the work remains grounded in your reality.
  4. Reflect and plan next steps At the end of the project, we set aside time to review findings or outcomes with you, consider implications for your organization, and identify next steps so the work can continue after the engagement concludes.

Our approach to consulting

Fosgail’s consulting is rooted in Attendant Leadership and the Fosgail Mindset: paying close attention to people, relationships, and context before rushing into solutions. We intentionally slow down at the beginning of an engagement to understand how your team is experiencing change, what they have already tried, and where they need clarity or support.

From there, we help you frame the right questions, learn about your options, integrate new insights with your existing strengths, and practice sustainable ways of working that can endure beyond the project.

Is Fosgail consulting a good fit?

Fosgail consulting may be a good fit if:

  • You lead a library, theological school, or academic unit and want support from someone who understands your sector’s realities.
  • You have a complex challenge or opportunity but limited time, staff, or internal expertise to address it.
  • You are looking for a partner who will walk alongside you, ask thoughtful questions, and co‑create solutions rather than offering a one‑size‑fits‑all fix.

If you are looking for a very quick, standardized solution with minimal involvement from your team, Fosgail may not be the right match, and we are happy to help you think about other options.

Next steps

If this sounds like the kind of support you are looking for, your next step is to schedule a free Discovery Meeting so we can learn more about your context and explore whether a consulting engagement makes sense.

What clients say

“It has been a pleasure working with Myka and Kelly on this project. Meetings and conversations kept us informed of the progress of the project, and we appreciated the flexibility to change directions as needed. Fosgail was the key to completing this project successfully.”

Dr. Heesung Hwang

“We contracted with Fosgail for a large-scale data migration and staff training project. Myka’s expertise with the target software and her ability to reduce big, complicated questions into manageable action items was invaluable. We are a small department but with Myka’s help we became the poster child for large scale consortia migration.”

Alex Carver

I found it invaluable to have a library consultant who really understands small libraries and can translate planning processes in a manner that is sensitive to our context and capacity.
